Ari Shoo Designs

When in university in 2018-19, one of our projects was to learn how in the costume industry that costumes are broken down and weathered to give the appearance of time appropriate wear and tear.
We were tasked with creating costumes based on the world of Mad Max as this was a perfect example of a post apocalyptic world where costumes would be absolutely destroyed and haphazardly put together.
I really enjoyed this project and what I created from it and the final results of my costumes are shown here in this Facebook post on my Facebook page.
I made the costumes from recycled materials and charity shop bought items and it cost me a grand total of £15.
Props were made by our university prop department. The photographer was a photographer student, their page is tagged in the Facebook post.
In Year 1 of my HND Digital Design and Development, we were tasked to make a game including something about the environment and conservation 'commissioned' by the Scottish Wild Life Trust .I chose to do something based on frogs/toads as I enjoy the animal and felt that I could stylise it in a way that would attract people to wanting to play it.
I created a game where you played as a frog getting from one end of a pond to another to reach its mate.
I learned a lot while making this game and continue to use what I've learned in further practices, including coding with C#, working within Unity and lots of different design methods.
In the first term of Year 2 of my HND Digital Design and Development, we were tasked to make a relaxing game based on a brief we were given. The game was to be made for students in a college that needed games to relax playing between their classes and other stresses.
I created a game where you play as a flower bud, collecting nutrients in order to grow up into a beautiful flower. Due to time restrictions, I was unable to add in a lot of content that I wanted to into the game, but I passed the module and I aim to also continue working on the game as an independent developer once I graduate.
This game also gave me more experience in using C# and a lot of experience in working Unity so that will be very beneficial for my final year and for any work I complete in the future.
My final term in Year 2 of my HND led me to creating this game. We were tasked to create an game that would be housed in an arcade cabinet for a 'retro gaming convention' given by the brief.
I took this brief and came up with the idea to create a rhythm game, as whenever I've been to an arcade there has always been a Dance Dance Revolution or Guitar Hero machine or similar.
I created the game and gave it a story so that it could have more substance and be something that attracts people in and keeps them interested in the game as they play it instead of making it a free play game. It's currently still in development, but I'm closing in on finishing it in time with the brief given.
This game has allowed me to refine my C# skills, along with my artwork designs and UI capabilities. It also allowed me to refine my Unity skills, so I'm a lot more confident with this software now and will enjoy working on it in any future projects.
